David began serving FSBC as pastor in June 2004. He has been married for 33 years to the most beautiful and wonderful woman in the world, Lynne. They are blessed with identical twin sons, Aaron and Joshua. Aaron (a fabulous and gifted public school teacher), Heather (wife), David (9), Drew (6), and Desiree (3) live near Fort Worth, TX. Joshua (a fabulous and gifted youth pastor), Robin, (wife), and Zeke (3), and Shepherd (1) live in Shreveport, LA. David loves to spend time with his wife. He also enjoys reading, working around his home, and golf.
David Jakes -Assistant to the Pastor
David began serving in the voluntary position of Assistant to the Pastor in August 2007 after retiring as President of Arizona Baptist Children's Services. He is an ordained minister whose passion is making a difference in the lives of others. He is blessed to be married to Nancy L. Jakes, who serves Arizona Southern Baptists as President of Baptist Senior Life Ministries. They have four adult children (Andy, Josh, Laura, Tony) and three grandchildren (Austin, Colin, Maeve). David loves spending time with his wife, traveling in their motorhome, hunting, attending professional sports events, and providing management consulting services for other Baptist and evangelical ministries.
Pam Hill -Children's/Preschool Ministries Coordinator
Pam is serving in her 21st year at FSBC Phoenix ministering to babies through 6th graders. Beginning with the Preschool Ministries in August 1989, she added the Children's Ministries in early 2007. She has been married to David for 32 years and they have two boys. Tim (23) lives in California and Nathan (10) is in 5th grade. Pam enjoys family time, reading, camping, crafts and going on field trips with Nathan's class. David is a retired high school teacher with a second career as a pharmacy technician and very involved in Children's and Preschool Ministries.
Tim Franks -Minister to Students
AKA - DJ Timbits, began serving at FSBC in May 2010. He graduated in 2005 from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois with a B.A. in Communication. In 2009 he graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky with and M.A. in youth ministry. He is currently engaged to the most beautiful and unbelievable gody woman in the world, Alicia Chappel. They will be married on November 6, 2010. Tim enjoys any activities that include Alicia, plus anything to do with watching or playing sports, reading and talking about theology.
Juan Hernandez -Interim Music Minister
Dr. Juan Hernandez began serving as our Interim Minister of Music in June.Juan currently serves the Lord in the newly created College of Fine Arts and Production at Grand Canyon University. His 20 years of church music ministry experience includes Church of the Open Door (Leavenworth, KS), Canyon del Oro Baptist Church (Tucson, AZ), Monroe Congregational Church (Monroe, CT), and the First Baptist Church of West Los Angeles. Juan has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music (The Master’s College), a Master of Music in Choral Conducting (Yale University), and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting, with a Minor in Piano Performance (University of Arizona).
